Crushes

I've talked, before, about having a kind of crush on this woman who goes to the rec center.  I want to be her friend, even though I've never spoken to her or asked her to do anything, I'm still hurt by her rejection [wow. That's sad.].

Anyway, there's this woman I've known - actually known, actually spoken to, we've exchanged numbers and email addresses, I'm not stalking her, like the cool lady at the gym - for years.  And for all those years, I've wanted to be friends with her.  More than just the casual hi or quick exchange of information when we happen upon each other.

I want us to make dates.  And keep them.

I want us to get together and do stuff.

And it never seems to work out.  Which really bums me out, because I like her.  I think she's awesome.  And I think know think she likes me.  Know she likes me.

It's kind of sad and funny how you never outgrow crushes.  It's as if you are perpetually 13.  I don't really care for it.

I hope I eventually outgrow it.

  1. Nope. You never outgrow them. And that's a good thing.
    They keep the heart healthy.

  2. I find it very hard to make friends. I mean I have them, I'm not a social pariah, or maybe they're pretend, but I digress. I think no one wants to admit how difficult it is to see someone you totally know you could hang with and would love to be around and yet you're not sure how to do that. Once you figure it out will you let me know.

  6. Renee - I like your positive attitude.

Tonya - Believe me, when I figure it out, you'll know. [Ahem. Hint!]

Cecelia - She is pretty, and has such an interesting backstory.

    Andygirl - It's frustrating, isn't it?

Simone - Good call. But sometimes the heart wants what it wants!

  7. I have zero ability to make friends. And then if something's looking promising, I always manage to say or do something that leaves the other person thinking "I don't want anything to do with you - you're a social embarrassment."

You can feel sorry for me now.

  8. I tend to get like this at weddings. I seriously come away with a new friend every time, and always hope our post-wedding friendship will be as fun and wild as that night at the one wedding.

  9. I maybe sort of still google-stalk, dream about, and have a crush on the girl who trampled my heart over the summer and said, in so many words, that she didn't want to waste her time on me.

But let's just keep that between us.

    Stupid fucking crushes.

  10. Jo - yes, I have that problem. Usually it's all the swearing.

Hutch - YES! Weddings have some weird force-field that fucks up your sense of proportion. OF COURSE these people will be your BFFs! How could they NOT?

Alone - That woman is missing out on someone amazing. She really is.
